My name is Dave Cole and I am a part time knifemaker and sheathmaker.I have been making knives using the stock removal method since 1991.
The steels I primarily use are O-1,1095, and purchased Damascus.I make one of a kind knives of my own design.They range in style from Bowies to hunters and friction folders.I prefer using natural handle materials such as exotic woods,antlers,horn and bone.While I prefer using my own designs I will look at doing interesting designs from my customers.
Leatherwork is also a passion of mine.Most of my work involves inlays such as snakeskin,Crocodile,rayskin and more.I do a variety of designs ,do inverted carving, and like to use lacing on my products.I feel that while a sheath should above all be functional and protect the user and the knife, it should also compliment the knife.After all it is what you see first.For knifemakers custom sheaths will often increase sales.
